Why Private or  Semi - Private Lessons?

Private yoga lessons offer students the ability to focus on personal interests, concerns or goals. Instead of following along with the yoga instructor in a class setting, a private lesson allows an individual to set specific goals and plans, such as personal goals for flexibility, strength or meditation.

A private yoga lesson is really important for someone intending to enter a general class setting, who has a pre-existing injury that limits mobility which could be exacerbated if the practitioner does not know how to modify their approach to a pose or overall practice.

There are plenty of examples as to why a private lesson is beneficial. One common example to mention would be if a practitioner has had a knee replacement, as this student should never just head on in to a general class setting, rather they should attend a class specific to individuals with limited mobility/receive private lessons so they know how to modify the instruction given to them so that they can indeed benefit from taking a general class.

Another example would be specific to someone with a heart condition or high blood pressure issue, as this practitioner can benefit greatly but even if they are taking medication, someone with this condition should never do forward folds or downward dogs, which in a general class setting might not be something that they are comfortable mentioning in a general class setting.

Also, some students have the potential to advance when provided the opportunity to train privately because a one on one learning experience allows the instructor to focus on their individual needs, allowing the practitioner to ask questions that may demystify shadowy parts of their practice.
