Early childhood exposure to the disciplined moving arts of theatre and dance inspired Gabrielle as a young adult to study yogic, martial and internal arts. She resonated deeply with these practices, finding that they helped promote mental clarity, maintain focus, heal injuries, offered an integrated fitness regimen, brought balance to the demanding lifestyle of a full-time undergraduate student / self-employed artist.

During this period, Gabrielle immersed herself in the Taoist Internal and Martial Arts by training with Master Chik Quadir Mason, founder of the Spirit Wind Internal Arts Society. She received many certifications of study in forms ranging from Pa-Kua Chang, Tao Yin Yoga, Chi Kung, to Tai Chi Chuan, and earned her “Warrior Sash” for Kung Fu. She now actively participates in group instruction, demonstrations, and collaborative performances. In 2000, Gabrielle earned her B.A. from Temple University’s Department of Theater (with an exploratory concentration in dance, music and voice) while actively training and engaging in an apprenticeship under Sifu Mason. With his encouragement, she began her teaching career in the healing arts.
